Innovation is the cornerstone of the development of the automotive industry - China International Auto Parts Development Forum

April 06, 2023

Rand Corporation, a comprehensive strategic research organization in the United States, pointed out: “Without technology independence, there is no economic independence and political independence.” To achieve the transition from a large automobile manufacturing country to a strong nation, we need to accelerate the improvement of auto parts based on a strong component industry. Industry's independent innovation capacity building. How can we achieve innovation? At the "China International Auto Parts Development Summit Forum" held recently, more than 700 well-known experts and scholars from home and abroad gathered to discuss the road to innovation in the automotive industry.

Smart Environmental Protection and Energy Saving for Innovation

Regarding the status quo of China's auto parts industry, Li Minglin, Director of the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Industry of the Ministry of Commerce believes that at the current stage, China's auto parts products are generally homogenized, auto companies generally have low export R&D investment, and most of their export products are middle and low grades. The degree of differentiation is low, the target market is single, and the profitability is generally low. He believes that at this time, enterprises must be encouraged to enhance their independent innovation capabilities, optimize the structure of their export products, support auto manufacturing companies in strengthening the research and development system, encourage enterprises to establish overseas R&D centers, and actively guide the export of energy-saving and new energy automotive products. The company adopts advanced technical standards at home and abroad, actively integrates with international standards, promotes the improvement of production consistency, and steadily improves product quality. What is the direction of innovation?

Xu Daquan, executive vice president of Bosch (China) Investment Co., Ltd., said that Bosch Automotive will focus on innovation in the areas of green, safety and intelligence. Because, first, the current slowdown in the growth rate of the automotive industry, the next competition will become stronger; Second, the problem of excess capacity requires companies must innovate, and now the total capacity of each host plant a total of nearly 30 million, Bosch predicts that the market by 2015 Only need more than 20 million capacity. For suppliers, the competitive pressure is huge and the demand for innovation and new energy vehicles will continue to increase.
Ji Tiantai, deputy general manager of Denso (China) Investment Co., Ltd., said that future innovations will also be reflected in more intelligence. In today's information society, smart phones are rapidly developing. If convenience is applied to vehicles, the convenience of the information society can also be experienced in the car.
Zhuang Zhiqiang, deputy general manager of Toyota Textile (China) Co., Ltd., believes that the direction of the development of interior technology can be summarized in terms of “safety, energy saving, environmental protection, and comfort”.

Innovation is accumulation and intimate

How to innovate?

Bo Yunhuana, vice president of BorgWarner and president of BorgWarner China, believes that for innovation, BorgWarner will proceed cautiously and step-by-step. Generally, these processes include: gathering information and transforming ideas through market research and technical seminars. For concepts, discussion of how much to invest, what kind of effects will occur in the future. Turning information and ideas into products and launching them is very orderly and cautious. At the same time, BorgWarner will carefully consider the company's technology and product life cycle in its R&D investment.

Toyota Textile uses its own case to illustrate that the process of innovation can also be intimate. Zhuang Zhiqiang, deputy general manager of Toyota Textile (China) Co., Ltd., introduced the perfect grasp of customer needs, but also an innovation. He introduced the technology of Toyota's textile ventilation seats. One of them is the configuration of small and efficient centrifugal fans in seats, the use of fabrics with excellent air permeability, and the design of foam structures with a reasonable density. The technical cost is not very high, but the effect is very obvious. In the summer, the cooling effect can be achieved through the chair surface and the back of the chair. In the winter, a heating wire or heater is added to remove warm air and warm the shoulders and neck. Department and lower limbs can achieve very good results.

Innovation requires regulatory support

Innovation requires business investment, but encouraging companies to innovate and promote innovation results requires government support.

Xu Daquan introduced that in the promotion of some innovative safety products, China has obviously fallen behind. For example, the application of ESP, Canada, the United States, and the European Union have achieved 100% standardization in 2011. This year, Japan has also included ESP in regulations. Brazil and Argentina also have plans to fully implement ESP in 2014. Only C-NCAP security is available in China. One point is added to the implementation standard. The promotion of this innovative and safe product requires the government to increase its popularity in order to reduce life-threatening injuries.

TTAshok, former chairman of the Southern Region of the Federation of Indian Industries, and managing director of Taylor Rubber Sdn Bhd, described the legal environment as crucial to innovation. In this regard, India signed an agreement on supporting knowledge innovation in 2008 to encourage independent innovation. After signing, India's current number of patent applications has reached more than a thousand, patent applications have increased at an annual rate of 11%, of which 82% of applications for innovation come from the United States, China and so on.

Sukher Bebali, chairman of the Audit Committee of the Turkish Automobile Parts Association and master of materials science, introduced that in order to encourage innovation, Turkey has assumed 80% of the input costs for all companies establishing R&D centers in Turkey to encourage innovation.
