Automotive Electronics Leads Future Automotive Technology Innovation

"Over the past 30 years, about 70% of the innovations in automotive technology have come from the automotive electronics technology sector. Rapidly developing automotive electronics technology has enabled automobiles to achieve dynamic, economical, safety, comfort, and reduced emissions. The revolutionary progress.” On July 10th, Wu Zongze, chairman of the China Intelligent Transportation Association, expressed at the AutoTec 2014 China Automotive High-Tech Development Forum that “the future direction of integration of automotive electronics and intelligent transportation technologies will focus on security, information, Three aspects of energy saving."

The relevant agencies predict that the scale of the global automotive electronics market in 2016 is expected to reach US$240 billion, while China will reach a market size of 500 billion yuan. At the second China Automotive High-tech International Forum, representatives from Bosch, Infineon, Desai Xiwei, Hangsheng and other companies expressed their opinions on “Future Automotive Electronics Technology Trends” from different perspectives.

■ The car network explodes the era of big data

Human society has already entered the Internet age. With the development of car networking, we will also enter the "car" network era. As more and more automobiles access the Internet, manufacturers, distributors, technology companies and other suppliers need to collect a large amount of user information. The collection and arrangement of these “data” is very complicated. “Because the application of intelligent cars in the entire automotive industry chain has just started, there is a data blind spot for the use of vehicles in the social environment. This blind spot has become a bottleneck for the development of new technologies in the automotive industry and the intelligent application of automobiles.” Asia-Pacific Information Technology Jiang Yong, chairman and CEO of the company, said.

In the era of big data, where are the opportunities for car networking? Jiang Yong thinks there are three main aspects: First, solve the online interactive experience problem by analyzing the user's rigid demand; Second, consider what the active security technology can bring to the user from the user experience; Third, more services will be landed through data analysis. This is an important issue facing the car networking industry today and in the future.

According to Duan Yajing, Dean of Control Electronics Design Research Institute of Shenzhen Hangsheng Electronics Co., Ltd., the car network is divided into three networks, namely the in-vehicle network, the inter-vehicle network and the Internet. The three networks combine the energy, roads and vehicles together to produce Three systems: end systems, which mainly refer to the in-vehicle hardware, in-vehicle communication, and workshop communication; tube systems, which solve the interconnection of vehicles and vehicles, vehicles and roads, and vehicles and networks; and cloud systems, which tend to be very complex in vehicle management. Monitoring management and application system.

Mobile Internet is a manifestation of the Internet of Vehicles. Zhu Guangwei, vice president of the Multimedia Division of Bosch Automotive Multimedia Division in China, believes that the current mobile phone interconnection is still in the initial stage of explosive growth. "Mobile Internet is mainly for security, on the one hand is the safety during the driving process, on the other hand is to ensure the safety of vehicle information." Zhu Guangwei said.

■ Semiconductor technology is the basis for development

According to IHS isuppli survey data, the market's compound annual growth rate of traffic electronics from 2013 to 2017 will reach 10%. From vehicle electronic control to car multimedia, automotive lighting to environmentally friendly lithium batteries, semiconductor chip components have penetrated into every aspect of the automotive architecture.

At the forum, Patrick Leteinturier of the automotive division of Infineon Technologies (China) Ltd. also stated: "The functions of cars are becoming more and more complicated, and these functions are seamlessly connected, so that we can have a better driving experience. Engines, transmissions, braking systems and other systems are all interactive, making cars safer and more environmentally friendly. These functions and interactions are all achieved through electronic components."

In simple terms, semiconductors are the basis for the realization of automotive intelligence, car networking, electronics and electronic control technologies. Taking the Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) currently under development as an example, Patrick Leteinturier said that the implementation of ADAS requires better semiconductor components, and the integration of all data requires the improvement of CPU performance. Therefore, multi-core microprocessors are the trend of development. Taking into account security factors, not only the microprocessor itself is secure, but also the information stored by the microprocessor must be secure.

According to Patrick Leteinturier, the development of automotive electronics and electrification has made cars safer and more environmentally friendly. In addition to the seamless solution, Infineon is also developing new products such as sensors, radars, and electronic components, and hopes that these semiconductor components will enable the car to have better reliability and safety.

■ Future Directions - Safety, Information, Energy Saving

At this forum, everyone agreed that safety, information, and energy conservation are the future directions for automotive electronics.

In terms of security, the current automobile safety is developing from passive safety to active safety. In the field of active safety, the ADAS system is an important system. As the proportion of ADAS in software and emerging electronics has increased and the profitability of products has increased greatly, it is estimated to be about 40%. Therefore, a large number of companies will be involved in the research and development of this product. In the ADAS system, there are three major technologies, namely sensor technology, image processing technology and control algorithms. With the advancement of these technologies in the past two years, there will be an improvement in the active warning of vehicles.

In terms of information, the development of the entertainment system, navigation system, and car networking enabled us to obtain a variety of vehicle information, including collisions, fatigue driving, theft, and occupant protection. The interconnection between the mobile phone and the car machine enables users to browse and apply various external information more conveniently and quickly. At the same time, the T-box product of the SIM communication module enables the car owner to understand and control the car anywhere.

In respect of energy conservation, various aspects of the automotive industry chain are developing energy-saving technologies, and new energy vehicles and electric vehicle technologies are also one of the major development directions in the future, including the three powers of new energy vehicles - vehicle controllers, motor controllers and battery management. Systems, these are all inextricably linked with automotive electronics.
