A new report shows that aluminum consumption in global automotive applications continues to increase, and that aluminum has surpassed iron to become the second most commonly used automotive material in the world compared with other metals.
The study, commissioned by ALCAR and carried out by Ducker Worldwide, found that North American passenger cars currently contain an average of 319 pounds of aluminum, an increase of 16% from the 2002 figure. Makes aluminum the second most commonly used automotive application material after steel.
