50% growth for global automotive monitors by 2015

The latest research report from NPD DisplaySearch, a market research organization, points out that more and more cars are importing flat panel displays, including navigation, multi-functional in-console monitors, and rearseat entertainment. It is estimated that by 2015, the global vehicle monitor shipments will grow from 42 million units in 2011 to 62 million units in 2015, and there will be 50% room for growth during the period.

HiroshiHayase, vice president of NPDDisplaySearch's small and medium size display research, said that as the use of displays in automobiles is increasing, the demand for the overall automotive display continues to increase. In particular, after the launch of hybrid electric vehicles and electric vehicles, the demand for automotive displays has accelerated, such as Nissan's Leaf and so on.

The current use of automotive monitors is quite diverse, including multi-functional control systems, safety instructions, energy information, entertainment, and other uses that are conducive to driving. Automotive built-in navigation applications are also becoming more and more common around the world, because this feature helps safe driving, not only can the driver focus on road conditions, save time, but also help drivers avoid traffic accidents.
