The first integrated production of tetrafluoroethane refrigerant base in the country reaches 30,000 tons per year

Recently, Jiangsu Kangtai Fluorine Chemical Co., Ltd., the only company in the country that controls the production of tetrafluoroethane-based environmentally friendly refrigerants for alternatives to Freon, was officially put into production in the nation’s first production base built in Jintan City, Jiangsu Province.

It is understood that according to the "Kyoto Protocol," the industrialized countries will limit emissions of greenhouse gases including carbon dioxide and methane from 2008 to 2012. Because the refrigerant freon destroys the atmospheric ozone layer, it is restricted to use. Tetrafluoroethane is an environmentally friendly refrigerant that replaces Freon. It is non-toxic, non-flammable, non-explosive, and has good thermal stability and chemical stability. It does not damage the ozone layer. In the past, tetrafluoroethane production technology has been monopolized by large companies in Europe, America and Japan. Jiangsu Kangtai Fluorine Chemicals Co., Ltd. invested 200 million yuan. It took four years to develop a tetrafluoroethane-environmental refrigerant and became the only company in the country that has mastered the patent. This year, the company established a modern large-scale production base in Jintan, which mainly produces new environmentally-friendly refrigerants that do not contain ODS (Ozone Depleting Substances). The comprehensive production volume reaches 30,000 tons per year, and it is expected that sales will exceed 1.8 billion yuan next year.
