Delphi Announces Establishment of Automotive Air Conditioner Compressor Plant in Suzhou

Suzhou, China — Delphi Corporation today announced that Delphi will further expand its production capacity in China and establish a new automotive air-conditioning compressor plant in Suzhou. According to the plan, the new factory will be officially put into production in July next year.

Delphi Suzhou Compressor Plant will be located in Delphi's existing plant in Suzhou and will use a processing and assembly mode. The new plant will occupy an area of ​​30,000 square feet, and as the scale of production expands, it will expand to 92,000 square feet in the future, and will produce 550,000 compressors per year. Delphi started its operations in Suzhou as early as 1995.

“The establishment of the new plant means that Delphi will bring a new generation of variable displacement piston compressor technology to China, bring world-class systems and technologies to market, and support the development of the local market.” Director, Delphi Heat Exchange System Asia Pacific Scott Graham, general manager, pointed out that “Since entering the Chinese market in 1993, Delphi’s investment in China has continued without interruption, in order to meet the growing market demand. The establishment of a new compressor plant is part of our long-term development strategy. In part, it will further enhance and stabilize Delphi's market position."

Delphi's compact variable displacement compressor (CVC) features high performance and adaptability to meet the specific needs of Chinese and global automotive manufacturers. Based on the simple harmonic motion mechanism of the swash plate, the mechanical performance of the compact variable displacement compressor is improved, and its control method can also be set to pneumatic control or electronic control according to the requirements of the customer.

Delphi can also design and validate specific application requirements for automotive or commercial vehicle manufacturers, giving customers greater flexibility in design and selection. The product also has other features, such as electronic control, electronic control without clutch, thermal fuse to protect the transmission, and so on.
